Hay Interiors is a long-established Perth curtain maker based in Nedlands, an easy run down Stirling Highway from Mosman Park. We’ve been making custom made curtains for Perth homes since 1969, and Mosman Park — held between the river and the ocean, with grand older homes, heritage properties and quality rebuilds sharing its streets — is a suburb whose windows reward a maker’s attention.
Curtains and Roman blinds are made by hand in our workroom; roller blinds, cellular blinds and shutters are made to our exact specification by trusted specialists. The person who advises you is the person who oversees the making.
Few Perth suburbs carry as much architectural presence as Mosman Park. Grand riverside homes and heritage properties sit alongside solid character houses and confident rebuilds, and the windows range accordingly — formal rooms that deserve traditional treatments done properly, and newer glazing that wants clean, generous dressing. For the period end, Annie’s training in English heritage houses shows: lined and interlined curtains with correct headings, tailored pelmets, and the full tradition covered on our heritage curtains page. For the contemporary end, layered sheer curtains and blockout curtains, with motorised curtains on quality Acmeda and Somfy systems for wide or high glazing. Many of Perth’s interior designers bring their Mosman Park projects to our workroom from drawings stage — and homeowners coming directly get the very same standard.
Our showroom and workroom sit together on Stirling Highway in Nedlands, a few minutes’ drive up the highway from Mosman Park — near enough that choosing fabric properly is easy. Visit the showroom and workroom to handle full-width curtain fabrics rather than judging from a swatch, take samples home the same day to test in your own rooms and your own light, and meet the people who will actually make your curtains. Measuring, fitting and any adjustment after your curtains have settled are all a short trip for us — the working rhythm of a local maker rather than a distant supplier.
Some rooms refuse the standard answer, and a home on Saunders Street proved it beautifully. Several of its rooms have curved walls — a lovely architectural gesture that most window treatments fight rather than flatter: straight hems and hard lines sit awkwardly against a curve. Annie’s answer was relaxed Roman blinds, whose signature is a gentle, swooping curve along the lower hem. The blind’s soft arc picked up the geometry of the rooms and answered it, curve to curve — a treatment that looked designed for the house rather than applied to it. Made in a soft white fabric, the blinds keep the rooms light, airy and inviting rather than closing them in. It’s the kind of solution that comes from a curtain maker reading a room — not from a catalogue.
Mosman Park takes its light from both sides — soft eastern mornings off the river, and hard western afternoons carried in from the ocean. The two demand different things. East-facing rooms can afford open weaves and lighter sheers that make the most of gentle light; west-facing rooms need fabrics specified for UV and fade resistance, protective linings that take the punishment, and glare control that doesn’t surrender the outlook — sunscreen roller blinds are often the answer there. Annie assesses each room’s real light at consultation and specifies accordingly, drawing brand-agnostically on Warwick, Nettex, Charles Parsons and more — the fabric follows the room, not a supplier’s quota.
“We had a wonderful experience with Hay Interiors! Annie and her team did an amazing job installing new curtains in our home. From the initial consultation to the final installation, everything was handled with professionalism, care, and great attention to detail. Annie really listened to our vision and helped us choose the perfect design and fabric to match our space. The final result is absolutely stunning — elegant, timeless, and beautifully crafted. Thank you, Annie, for transforming our home. Highly recommend Hay Interiors to anyone looking for high-quality, stylish curtains!” — Dee R

Yes — unusual architecture is where a genuine workroom shows its value. On Saunders Street we matched curved walls with relaxed Roman blinds, whose soft curved hem answered the rooms’ geometry beautifully. Annie assesses each window individually.
